IMPORTANT FACT:   It is misunderstood by some riders that if the thermovalve fails to operate it will block oil flow and damage the motor. This is not true. If the thermovalve failed in any operating position, oil flow would not be disrupted.

NO TECH TOOLS LIST:
  • Small channel lock pliers
  • 1/4" spin tite
  • Hose clamp
  • Lubrication (WD 40)
HOSE FITTING INSTALLATION
  • Bevel edge of hose
  • Place compression sleeve on to hose
  • Install stop washer to fitting
  • Install hose clamp, snug around sleeve (adjust just tight enough not to slip, do not overtighten to avoid damage to sleeve)
  • Lubricate hose and barbs (WD40)
  • Insert fitting into hose end
  • Grasp hose clamp with pliers and with a back and forth motions work sleeve to stop washer
  • Remove hose clamp

You now have a 150 psi fitting, made of 304 S.S., guaranteed not to leak. It is completely reusable and gives your Harley that finishing touch.

THESE INSTRUCTIONS PERTAIN ONLY TO THE PLACEMENT OF THE COOLER AND THERMOVALVE INTO THE MOTOR'S LUBRICATING SYSTEM. THE TYPE OF HOSES USED, ROUTING OF HOSES, AND THE PHYSICAL POSITIONING OF THE THERMOVALVE IS LEFT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE INSTALLER. THE THERMOVALVE AND COOLER ARE INTEGRATED INTO THE OIL FLOW CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE OIL FILTER AND THE OIL BAG.



THERMOVALVE AND OIL COOLER HOSE CONNECTIONS
(as illustrated in left diagram)

  1. Remove the Oil Hose that connects from the Filter to the
    Oil Bag.
  2. Install a Hose from the Oil Filter to Port (A) of the Thermovalve (RED CAP).
  3. Install a Hose from Port (B) of the Thermovalve to one side of the Cooler.
  4. Install a Hose from the other side of the Cooler to Port (C) of the Thermovalve.
  5. Install a Hose from Port (D) of the Thermovalve to the Oil Bag.
